It can take a lot for a brewery to stand out in San Diego, which is saturated in high quality local craft offerings. However Eppig Brewing, located in North Park, is leading the way when it comes to creating unique, flavorful and authentic beer styled after a classic range of styles.

Co-founded by an entrepreneur whose family first started a brewery in New York over 150 years ago, Eppig Brewing has classical roots but an undeniable modern twist. Their full history is unique and interesting, and worth a read here.

Around the World in a Beer Flight

There are flavors on tap at Eppig from all over the world. There’s the Baltic Porter, with 9.1 percent alcohol by volume, which took the Bronze at the 2017 San Diego International Beer Competition for Porters. The Schwarzbier German Black Lager has about half as much alcohol, but has already won a bronze and silver medal. Their Japanese Style Dry Lager boasts 5.8 percent ABV and a hint of sushi rice to the aroma. There are also four IPAs to choose from!

If you want something more substantial than a single pour or a flight of assorted flavors, you can fill a 32-ounce, 64-ounce or one gallon growler. They do sell both stainless steel and glass growlers, as well as tulip glasses and brand merchandise.

Simple Yet Amazing Amenities

Although there’s no kitchen at the Eppig Brewing Tasting Room, they do offer pretzels for sale, and there are frequently tasty food trucks in the area offering quick service. They even allow you to bring your own food or order delivery to the tasting room.

They are also both kid and dog friendly, provided that both are well-behaved and attended by a parent or owner at all times. You can even host larger events for up to 45 guests in the tasting room. Whether you want a drink or to plan a party, Eppig Brewing is a great destination.
