Since 2002, Green Flash Brewing Company has been making craft beers. Founded by Mike and Lisa Hinkley, this brewery excels in both consistently producing favorite brews and regularly coming up with unusual, experimental beers only available for a limited time.

Many of their beers, such as their locally-loved West Coast IPA, have brought home awards over the nearly two decades that Green Flash has been in business. Their brews are available on tap at their facility, as well as in bottles and cans, depending on which beer you’re buying.

Beers for Every Palette and Preference

Their bottled beers come in 12- and 22-ounce sizes. The smaller bottle options include their West Coast IPA, Soul Style IPA, Tangerine Soul Style IPA, Passion Fruit Kicker and the Palate Wrecker. You can also buy larger bottles of their Imperial IPA, Le Freak, Dia De Los Serranos and Cosmic Ristretto.

A few of the same beers are available in 12-ounce cans, including their Sea to Sea Lager, Remix IPA, Soul Style IPA, Passion Fruit Kicker and Jibe Session IPA. Their Green Flash Blonde Ale comes in 12-ounce cans or bottles, as well as larger 19.2-ounce cans.

As the brand has grown over the years, the company expanded, including Cellar 3, a location in Poway that is dedicated to wild yeast and barrel-aging experimental beers. There are currently nine bottled brews available from their Cellar 3 operations, including their Baroque Belgique, a Belgian-style pale ale, their Blanc Tarte Barrique, which is a wine barrel aged sour blonde ale with spices, and their Nouveau Tarte, a sour red ale that is aged in bourbon barrels.

Our Barrelmaster has done it again. Ghost Magic is the next beer to debut in our Barrelmaster’s Reserve series, and it releases online this Saturday, December 2nd at 9am PST. 750 ML bottles are available for pick-up only at @greenflashsandiego and @cellar3, so if you live out of state but have a friend in the area, this may be a good time to ask them for a favor. Ghost Magic is a deeply decadent barrel-aged stout with notes of chocolate, coffee, plum, and cherry. Fermented with Trappist yeast, fruity Belgian esters pull through, offering notes of spice cake. After aging more than 2 years in a variety of bourbon barrels and French oak, aromas of balsa wood, molasses, mint, and mocha enchant the senses. Ghost Magic pours an ebony black with a thick foam collar and long lacing. Be sure to grab your bottles of Ghost Magic before is disappears! In November of 2014, Green Flash acquired local favorite brewery Alpine Beer who are best known for their delicious Nelson IPA and Duet Double IPA. One of the immediate benefits to beer lovers after this acquisition was the increased availability of Alpine beer helped by Green Flash’s huge brewing capacity and distribution channels. Now you can find Alpine beers in cans and bottles throughout many parts of the country, as well as Alpine on draft at the Green Flash brewery on Mira Mesa Blvd.

As if these weren’t enough options, there are usually around 30 beers on tap in their tasting room, which you can enjoy along with seasonal food offerings from their Green Flash Gastro food truck. If you’ve somehow missed Green Flash Brewing Company until now, it’s time to pay them a visit!
