If you’re in Ocean Beach and craving some flavorful craft beer, head on over to Kilowatt Brewing. This tasting room has a range of incredible beers, as well as amazing food pairings for special events. While they don’t have a kitchen on site, they do work with local chefs to bring in foods that fit with their beers, such as local donuts made by the Executive Pastry Chef of Nomad Donuts, Kristianna Zabala.

When there aren’t special food pairing events, you are likely to find several food trucks nearby. Combine that with unique lighting, interactive art and games, and Kilowatt is a fun and casual destination when you want to try some uniquely flavored brews.

Lifting the Ocean Beach Craft Beer Scene One Pour at a Time

Kilowatt Brewing actually brews its beers in Kearny Mesa at 7576 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, but the Ocean Beach tasting room is a great addition to this growing local brewery. Between the bright, almost psychedelic decorations and the incredible, locally made beers on tap, Kilowatts’s tasting room is a fun place to throw back a few after work.

You can expect to find almost two dozen different beers on tap any time you stop in here, as well as more options in bottles and cans. Typically, at least a few of them will incorporate unusual flavors. There’s the Cucumber Wit, an American Wheat beer that is low in alcohol and high in drinkability. If you prefer something a little fruity, check out their S3 Pineapple Sour or S3 Watermelon Sour. Both are Berliner Weisse brews that are part of a sour series, with low alcohol content and a balanced fruity and sour flavor.

There is a range of classic beers as well, including several choices for IPAs, red and brown ales, and a couple of stouts as well. When you’ve found one you love, you can fill a growler and take more home to enjoy.
