Few local breweries have as intense of a following and as many awards amassed as Stone Brewing. They have been making amazing craft beers in San Diego since 1996, well before local breweries and craft beer were hot. There are a number of taprooms around San Diego under the Stone Brewing umbrella, but a trip to Liberty Station to visit their World Bistro and Gardens is definitely worthwhile!

The facility in Liberty Station was once a mess hall for the U.S. Navy. Now it’s a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a bocce ball court, an outdoor theater and a garden. There’s oodles of space and plenty of fun to be had.

A Menu That Ensures Flavorful Meals

If you’ve got a vegetarian buddy, you should definitely stop in for meatless Monday, when their menu goes fully meatless. Their special vegetarian menu includes fried green tomatoes, artichoke cakes, cheese ravioli and vegetable curry.

Their standard menu is just as impressive. You can order steak tartare, charred Brussels sprouts, steamed buns stuffed with chicken, salads with local greens, pork chops, pasta, fennel crusted Mahi Mahi, and half of a roasted chicken. They make sodas in house, so you can try a local lemon lime, root beer, spicy cola or snozzberry soda. If you’re looking for something a little healthier, order up one of the their kombuchas.

Dozens of Craft Beers on Tap

There are more than 30 different Stone Brewing craft beers available on tap. Some of them come from the Liberty Station facility, while others are shipped in from their brewery in Escondido. They also have several other beers on tap from local breweries in California.

If you’re looking for a place to start when it comes to the beer menu, consider the Witty Moron, if it’s available. This Belgian-style ale took home the gold in the Other Belgian-Style Ale category of the 2017 Great American Beer Festival. There are also plenty of fruity beers, IPAs, double IPAs, stouts and American ales.

Sunday’s are for breweries🍻
