Cardiff-by-the-Sea, also called Cardiff, is named for the capital city of Wales. Unlike its cousin in the United Kingdom, however, Cardiff-by-the Sea has lovely weather and sits between Encinitas and San Diego proper.

It may be a small town, but it does have some lovely local restaurants and bars for people to enjoy. Whether you live in Cardiff and commute elsewhere in San Diego county for work or want to explore some of the smaller towns in the area, there’s fun to be had in Cardiff. We’ve even tracked down a week’s worth of Happy Hour specials that will certainly leave you smiling.

Monday: Cardiff Beach Bar at Tower 13

The Happy Hour specials at Cardiff Beach Bar at Tower 12 include $5 draft beers for any of their regular sized beers, even local craft beers. You can also enjoy house wines by the glass or house margaritas for just $5. Well drinks are only $3.50, and they discount specialty cocktails by $2. If you’re hungry, you can enjoy several kinds of pizza, tacos, sliders or even a half order of their nachos for $6 each.

Nothing says Taco Tuesday quite like a fresh, discounted drink and excellent tacos! You’ll find both of those and more at Las Olas Mexican Restaurant. On Tuesdays, they offer Happy Hour pricing all night, until they close. That makes them the perfect Cardiff destination for drinks and dinner.

During Happy Hour, Las Olas offers customers some great discounts. You can take $2 off of their house margaritas, pineapple and chili margaritas, wine by the glass or the draft beer of the month. They have food discounts on dishes such as their fish or carnitas tacos, flautas or tacquitos with guacamole, nachos, and their spicy bean dip.

Wednesday: The Kraken Bar & Restaurant

If you’re looking for somewhere fun to celebrate making it through hump day, stop into The Kraken Bar & Restaurant. This place has live music almost every single night, as well as pool tables, televisions and outdoor seating. The only drawback to hanging out at the Kraken is the lack of a kitchen. There’s no food available to order, but you can enjoy the drinks and music on their own.

During Happy Hour you can delight in domestic beers and well drinks for $3.25 each. These prices are enough to make this a perfect early evening hangout when you find yourself in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

If you want incredible Peruvian tapas and wines at Happy Hour prices, head on over to Casa del Q’ero. They have daily specials featuring authentic Peruvian flavors, as well as a ceviche bar with rotating selections of incredible fresh fish. In addition to seafood, you can find crispy pork, beef short ribs and much more on the menu.

The Happy Hour specials at Casa del Q’ero include $5 draft beers, sangrias and glasses of house wines. They also have special tapas at discounted, a la carte pricing, during Happy Hour. Some of the popular tapas in the past have included skewers of marinated beef hearts or chicken, or even a special pizza of the day.

Need a carb kick to get you amped for the weekend? Consider a visit to Besta-Wan Pizza House. This place has excellent pizza, as you might imagine from their name. They also offer salads, tacos, hot wings, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and dinner plates. You can find grilled mahi, pollo borracho and even pasta on the menu here.

The Happy Hour specials at Besta-Wan Pizza House include $1 off of beers, cocktails and wine by the glass. They also offer $3 off of pitchers and bottles of wine. Combine those discounts with already affordable pizza prices, and you have a recipe for a great start to your Friday night.

Nothing gets you ready for a fun evening out with friends like a sushi blast of clean protein and carbs. Ki’s Restaurant serves sushi, as well as creative new American cuisine. Their menu includes quite a few gluten-free options, as well as creative takes on popular dishes, like butternut squash rolled tacos.

Happy Hour specials at Ki’s Restaurant tend to change daily. However, they usually offer a prix fixe three-course menu during Happy Hour for a reasonable price. They have alternating specials on appetizers and drinks, depending on the day you visit. Tuesdays, for example, feature wine specials, while Wednesday specials include burgers and beers.

Originally created as an extension of a locally loved rotisserie restaurant, Zenbu Sushi Bar, Restaurant and Cocktails has become one of the most popular location for fresh, locally caught seafood. They open in time for a late lunch and keep serving drinks and excellent food well into the evening. In addition to sushi, they serve fresh fish. They even have a kid’s menu!
