There are also plenty of excellent Happy Hour specials at the local bars and restaurants. We’ve selected a week’s worth of the best to help you enjoy your time in La Jolla.

Monday Happy Hour at The Promiscuous Fork

Start your week off right with burgers, beers and creative takes on popular American dishes. San Diego foodies may recognize this restaurant, as there is another location in Crown Point on Ingraham Street. Some of their most popular dishes are their lamb lollipops, salmon bowl or Kailua Pork quesadillas. They also serve short rib or blackened salmon tacos and massively filling sandwiches.

They call their Happy Hour “Halfy Hour,” clearly due to the 50 percent discount they offer on any of the beers they have on tap and select wines by the glass. There are also discounted foods, including a Caesar salad, mini beef sliders, and grilled chicken or pork belly tacos for only $5.

Tuesday Happy Hour at The Spot

If you want to relax and unwind after a long day, The Spot is your ideal destination. This casual eatery and bar features incredible food and great drinks in a casual, sports bar atmosphere. The menu features everything from duck confit tacos to chicken fingers, nacho pretzel rolls, burgers and seafood dishes.

During Happy Hour, you can enjoy well drinks, draft beers and glasses of house wines for just $5 each. They also discount some of their appetizers, including fried pickle chips for $2, a basket of fries for $3, $4 onion rings, $6 for eight classic Buffalo wings or $8 for Cajun lamb chops.

Wednesday Happy Hour at Herringbone

If you’re looking for a classier place to celebrate making it halfway through the work week, Herringbone is the perfect destination. Their dining room features trees indoors, skylights and wooden architectural features sure to add an elegant flourish to your mid-week Happy Hour fun.

They call their Happy Hour oyster hour, and it’s only available in the bar and lounge. Specials include $5 draft beers, $6 wines or sangrias, $5 well pours and $8 specialty cocktails. As the name implies, you can enjoy discounted fresh-shucked oysters as well, for just $1 each. They also serve mussels tikka masala for $10, fried Brussels sprouts with candied pecans for $6 and select wood fired pizzas for $10.

Thursday Happy Hour at Wheat and Water

There’s simply no better way to kick off your weekend early than with fresh, gourmet pizza! You’ll find that, plus plenty of drink options, at Wheat and Water. You can enjoy anything from grilled Spanish octopus to a charcuterie board before diving into a spinach and house-made ricotta pizza. They also make a pizza with braised pork shoulder and salsa verde.

During Happy Hour, you can enjoy $5 bottles of beer, including Modelo Especial, Coors Light and Original, and Corona Extra. Draft beers are $4 and $5, while pitchers run from $15 to $18. They also discount their spinach and ricotta pizza, mushroom duxelle pizza and margherita pizza, as well as several appetizers.


Friday Happy Hour at Jose’s Court Room

Jose’s Court Room has been serving creative and authentic Mexican dishes since 1956. That doesn’t mean that their menu is outdated, however. They have fun and modern takes on your favorite Mexican dishes. They also have incredible Mahi Mahi fish tacos topped with cabbage, radish slivers and chipotle sauce that lovers of fish tacos shouldn’t miss.

If you’re here in the early afternoon, you should take advantage of their awesome Happy Hour specials. You can order a Bud Light, Pacifico or XX draft for only $3, while house margaritas, wines by the glass and well cocktails are only $4. Their food specials include $5 appetizers, such as their pollo asada street tacos, carnitas street tacos, beef or chicken flautas or a cheese quesadilla.

Saturday Happy Hour at Crab Catcher Restaurant

With a weekend brunch, a daily Happy Hour and a fresh oyster bar, there’s plenty to love about Crab Catcher Restaurant. As you may have guessed from the name, the menu features all kinds of fresh fish and seafood, with a focus on excellent crab dishes (like King Crab ceviche tacos).

Their Happy Hour specials rotate daily, but Saturdays you can enjoy local draft beers for just $5 each. They also have plenty of discounted dishes, including a Pacific oyster shooter for $3, Calil-style fries, smothered in 5-cheese bechamel, bacon, salsa ranchero, queso fresco and micro cilantro for $8, and even short rib sliders for $8 each. You can also order tempura battered Baja fish tacos for $3.50 each.

Sunday Happy Hour at Cafe La Rue

With modern interpretations of classic French cuisine, New American dishes and even some Tex-Mex flavors served in a bistro-like atmosphere adjoining the La Valencia hotel, there are plenty of things to love about Cafe La Rue. You can order up the perpetually popular avocado toast or fresh market ceviche to start. Afterward, enjoy a burger, a flatbread or even a chimichurri steak.

The Happy Hour specials at Cafe La Rue include $5 draft beers, glasses of red and white wine, and well drinks, as well as $7 martinis. They also have rotating $5 food specials, so be sure to check what’s on special when you visit.
