When Empirehouse Urban Palate first opened in 2011, readers of San Diego Beat Magazine voted them the Best New Restaurant of 2011. Since then, Empirehouse has continued to live up to that hype. Featuring New American cuisine, this trendy but casual eatery has become one of the most popular in the Gaslamp neighborhood.

With awesome fusion dishes, a full bar and enough indoor and outdoor seating space to accommodate both kids and groups, Empirehouse Urban Palate is definitely worth a visit.

A Trip Around the World without Leaving Gaslamp

There are flavors from all over the world to be had here! Empirehouse serves brunch on the weekend with some really fun dishes. You can order a three-egg scramble with potatoes and fresh bread. There’s all kind of flavors, from Greek (the Mykonos scramble has feta, spinach and pepperoncinis), to Japanese (the Zen Mai has Japanese fern shoots) and Cuban (the Buena Vista has chicken, ham and Swiss cheese with lime aioli).

For lunch or dinner, you can enjoy something unique off their main menu. Start your meal off with sausage bread, which features Italian sausage, onions, peppers and mozzarella cheese rolled in dough and baked. If you want wings, you can order them with pepper sauce or red miso BBQ.

Trippy and Tasty Tater Tot Dishes

They also offer salads, tacos, hot dogs, sandwiches and burgers, but their tater tots are what really set them apart. These dishes, called Tot Pots, feature a bed of tater tots smothered in toppings. The Totchos are a nacho dish with tots instead of chips.

If you want something spicy, try the Fired Up, which features pepperoncinis, Fire feta cheese, olives, tomato and onion. Tots McGee are covered with bacon and white cheddar cheese, as well as green onions and sour cream. Finally, the All Choked Up features marinated artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and provolone cheese, and marinara sauce.
