Substitute Waffles for Beers

If you’re looking for a fresh and fun place to grab a late lunch or dinner in Kearny Mesa, stop by Cross Street Chicken & Beer. Although the current popular combination is chicken and waffles, Cross Street is taking aim at changing that. Asian dishes inspire their fried chicken. The fried chicken here manages to offer a new flavor for this classic dish.

They also offer large, shareable side dishes, like kim chi fried rice and Korean corn cheese. Cross Street has expanded to 20 full taps for beers and brews! It features tons of local breweries with a huge variety of types and flavors.

Fresh Fusion Flavors on Tap

If you’ve never had Korean fried chicken, you are definitely in for a treat. The batter is thin, and each piece of chicken gets fried twice. There’s more than one kind of fried chicken on the menu, too, with flavors like Thai Chili, Garlic-Parmesan, Salt and Pepper, and Spicy Korean. The Soy Garlic has been particularly popular, eaters seem to love it’s garlic-y goodness! Try it once and you’ll be hooked we promise.

They also offer corn poppers, fried pickles, beer battered fries, chicken tenders and fried dumplings. If you aren’t in the mood for fried chicken, you can go with a house salad or fish and chips. They are currently serving off of a Pre-Soft Opening menu, so some items may change.

The Perfect Casual and Modern Dinner Option

Cross Street has both indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, those with four-legged family members can bring Fido along. You may end up fighting him for the last piece of chicken, however. Although they have posted hours, when they run out of chicken, they stop serving for the night. They’ve been experiencing so much demand since opening that they have been selling out of chicken before closing. Show up early to ensure you get to try some!
